Not only do you have to choose a source to trust, but the cost to mount an ongoing attack is effectively nil compared to PoW

I mean if one wants to argue it's practically secure, one need only point at the network shutdown in Nov 2020 when the VPS for the centralized mainnet infra went offline for ETH causing exchanges to prevent withdraws, etc

Meh, even then the insecurity argument still stands. People can flaunt their normalcy bias if they want and make the argument it hasn't happened yet, therefore it won't ever, and I might understand that bias given people's tendency in the space for lack of a better word, gamble/ignore fundamentals (see:Doge)... but at the end of the day it's still a fundamentally less secure protocol than PoW that's more vulernable

It's all fun and games until someone finds an inflation bug in a PoS chain w/ CT /end

They could perpetually control the network without being easily defected, hadn't though of that scenario
