Today, I learned that the potential bandwidth usage per month for running a Monero node is ridiculously outside the realm of my comfort zone. The "several terabytes" cited in "How to Run a Monero Node" might be more than my ISP will allow.

just checked one of my nodes, 100GB used in half a month

I used 50GB in the past 30 days but I don't keep the node running 24/7.

I should check how much slack we have in our ISP connection for that.

my home node (where i am subject to comcast's iron fisted rule) uses a 100KB/s upload limit, and i think less than 200GB/month, not 100% sure

We both work from home here, so we use a lot of bandwidth for that, plus there's entertainment and so on.

you can use the `limit_up` command to change this limit without restarting monerod

then the --limit-rate-up parameter to have it effective on startup

(don't think you need or want to limit the download bandwidth, but there are similar options for that)
