there's also techniques for "probing" current balance to try and determine where money is going within LN. That one is a little trickier IMO, but there's a research paper about it (I think)

each platform is different in terms of using the bot. like here on freenode anyone can pm Wallet & use most functions even if not in channel with it. on reddit the bot can be used by anyone with /u/walletbot mention or message to walletbot even if the bot isn't in a particular sub reddit

on discord you need to be in a guild/server that has Wallet bot in it. and discord doesn't allow bots to DM users unless they are AND have DM's enabled from non friends

but yeah the oddities of each platform is partly why it took 2+ years to rewrite the freenode only Wallet bot to be multiplatform

like twitch chat is just modded irc so it was pretty easy to add BUT there is now WHO/WHOIS. to lookup users a but needs to do an API call.
